Recently, we have seen a tremendous increase in scammers operating overseas who are infiltrating the transportation industry in unprecedented ways. Fraudulent carriers are stealing vehicles across the nation at an epidemic rate. Prompting us to implement emergency measures to protect our clients.

In response to this urgent matter, we have implemented significant changes to combat carrier fraud. However, as with any changes, there may be some resistance, and these adjustments might inadvertently cause delays in vehicle pickups.

First and foremost, we are establishing a clear chain of custody between the origin contact and the destination contact. This means we will ensure proper communication from start to finish. To facilitate this, we require complete contact information, including the email addresses of both parties. These additional steps are taken for your protection.

Consequently, if a dealership is unwilling to provide the required information, we will not be able to accept their order. This measure is crucial in order to prevent fraudulent carriers from stealing vehicles from the dealership.

In the near future, we will include a picture of the driver’s license of the person picking up the vehicle in our dispatch notice, which will be emailed to both the origin and destination contacts. We kindly ask that the origin contact verify that the driver who arrives to pick up the vehicle matches the assigned driver in the notice. Additionally, we request that the origin contact take pictures of the truck, including the MC number.

Our dispatch team is meticulously reviewing all information provided by the carrier to ensure that we are working with legitimate parties. Unfortunately, this new process is causing delays in vehicle dispatch, as many carriers are hesitant to provide the requested information, which ultimately postpones vehicle pickups.

The significant changes we are implementing are not unique to our company; most large transport brokers are adopting similar measures in response to rising levels of fraud. We anticipate that delays will decrease as more brokers implement these standard practices, which will require carriers to comply if they wish to continue operating in this industry.

We kindly ask all our customers to cooperate by providing the necessary information and to be patient with any delays in pickups. These measures are in place to ensure everyone’s protection.

You can always count on Team Alex to keep you informed about current trends that can affect your transports.
