At present, our industry is facing a significant shortage of enclosed carriers, which has resulted in transport rates reaching unprecedented levels and longer wait times for deliveries. This situation is influenced by several factors, with a notable increase in carrier fraud targeting high-end vehicles typically transported by enclosed carriers being a primary concern.
Many brokers nationwide have instituted stricter fraud prevention protocols in response to the rise in fraud. While these measures are designed to enhance security, they have led some carriers to reevaluate their participation in this segment of transport or to consider exiting the industry altogether, as compliance with the new regulations can be challenging. Those carriers that continue to operate in this market are requesting considerably higher rates, with specific routes experiencing prices double the usual rate per mile.
Moreover, we would like to highlight the upcoming enforcement of a new law regarding English proficiency, which will start in June. Under this law, all commercial truck drivers holding a CDL license will be required to demonstrate proficiency in English. Given that many vehicle transport truck drivers speak English as a second language, we anticipate that this requirement may have a meaningful impact on our industry moving forward.
